Rickwood Field Hosts Alternative Baseball's Playing for Community Integration Tour
On November 9th, 2024, Rickwood Field – America's Oldest Baseball Stadium – will add another remarkable chapter to its storied history. As part of Alternative Baseball's 2nd Annual Playing for Community Integration Tour, this hallowed ground will host a groundbreaking event that celebrates inclusivity, empowerment, and the timeless spirit of America's Pastime. Rickwood Field has seen baseball greats like Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Satchel Paige grace its diamond. It has been home to the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues, where Willie Mays began his illustrious career. Now, this historic and storied venue will witness a new kind of baseball history – one that champions the abilities and potential of individuals with disabilities.
