Former pro baseball players to come to Paulding County for ABO AND PROS

DALLAS, Ga. ~ Alternative Baseball Organization has announced Paulding County High School as the location for the next edition of ABO AND PROS, the only baseball exhibition to feature players with disabilities from across the United States and former Major & Minor League professional baseball players in a bid to raise awareness and acceptance for societal integration of those with disabilities. For the first time ever, the Celebrity Game will return for a morning exhibition while the advanced ABO AND PROS match will be played in the afternoon. This event will take place on October 21, 2023.

Paulding County High School baseball coach Philip Nasworthy stated, "Paulding County Baseball is beyond excited to host Alternative Baseball this year. We were blessed to host an event last year and loved the opportunity to pour into the community. Alternative Baseball is an amazing group with incredible leadership and athletes. Paulding County High School baseball is better for the chance to interact with this awesome organization."

Alternative Baseball founder Taylor Duncan stated, “Paulding County High School and its leadership were very instrumental in helping us pull off an excellent event last October with the Halloween exhibition in costumes. Between that and their High School games in the Spring, they never fail to bring excitement with emphasis on ‘community’ to their experience of catching a great ball game there. They’ve got an incredible field, a great community, and excellent concessions; just everything you want to imagine for your perfect hometown ballpark experience. Now, we are very fortunate and blessed to have their help in pulling off something I personally hope to be very memorable for my hometown community for generations to come."

Commenting further on the impact of Alternative Baseball and ABO AND PROS, Duncan stated, "This is not just baseball for ABO. This serves to promote the positive effects of working together in life with those with disabilities. The Celebrity Game that started right here has spawned into a concept that has brought more opportunities across the United States for our athletes to network and connect with those who both directly and indirectly govern and affect our day-to-day lives. We have something here to celebrate and cherish while introducing new people to our great community.”

The Celebrity Game will utilize the flight-restrictive DeBeer Clincher Gymball the Organization has utilized since its inception in 2016. The ABO AND PROS exhibition match will utilize the KENKO Size M rubber baseball in the afternoon which is wildly popular among schools and recreation organizations in Japan. More details will soon follow. Participants in these events will be introduced over the next few months as more information becomes available. Volunteering opportunities and applications for the event will soon open for the general public to apply.
